Travelers, an emerging post-hardcore band from Los Angeles California, blew me away with their recently released EP, Searching. Hmmm. Travelers? Searching? There seems to be a theme occurring here! The band have kindly put up the 4 track EP as a free download for all to hear.Details of how to actually download the EP can be found on their facebook page!

Left with the urge to learn more about this band, I was lucky enough to get a brief interview with their vocalist Brett Urioste. And It went a little like this:

Starting off with a little history about the band. When and how did the band form? And how did the name Travelers come about? Is there a story there?
We initially started Travelers with friends and members of past bands to create something we all wanted to listen to. 
The name Travelers was one of the names being thrown around and we all liked how the name portrayed us as a band.

If for some strange unknown reason, you only had enough time to say 3 imaginative words to describe yourselves as a band, what would they be?
Positive, Creative, and Dedicated? haha.

Who would you say that as a band your main influences are? Who would you compare yourselves to?              
I feel that someone different influences everyone in the band and because of that it’s hard to compare us to someone else.

Are there any existing songs by any band/artists that you wish you’d written?
I wish I had written The Tide by Oceana as a whole. That CD has so much emotion and that’s something we try to portray as a band.

I’ve heard some pretty horrific stories from bands about their first live shows, what was your first ever-live show like?

Travelers first show to be honest was pretty bad. It could have been worse, but we were definitely unprepared for it and could have used more practice prior!

My first show- I was a freshman in high school and I imagine it was pretty bad. My band at that time was awful. I just remember the rush I got preforming and knew that this was something I’d love to do forever!

What’s been the best show you’ve ever played and why?
I’d have to say our show in Arizona, it wasn’t huge or anything and it was damn hot, but I just felt that there was great energy in the band and crowd.

Is there anything that inspires you when you are writing the music and lyrics to your songs?
Most of the time inspiration strikes at random for me and depending on my surroundings and how I’m feeling will determine what I write about.

What was it like recording for your debut EP Searching?
Recording our EP was awesome. Working with Cameron at Chango Studios was such a great experience and can’t wait until we’re back in the studio again!

What was it like recording for, If Only, If Only, your debut music video? It’s a really good music video might I add!
Thanks so much! It was definitely a new experience. Somewhat stressful and hard to get in our groove at first but as it progressed it became more and more fun.

If you could choose any bands to go on tour with, ie a dream line up/dream team; who would they be and why?

Secrets of course because they’re great friends of ours, and after that I’d say Mychildren Mybride, The Devil Wears Prada, Like Moths To Flames, Memphis May Fire, and Of Mice & Men. All of those bands are great and have influenced me in one way or the other and to tour with them all would be truly amazing.

What do you hope 2013 brings for the band? Anything in store for your fans? We are currently writing and hoping to enter the studio in February! After that we will be hitting the road and trying to cover every city we can!
